Project Ideas
1. The pupa gulta (bean bed) explores the idea of making a first space and a register to a child’s growth and change. It is thought of like a seed or a bean and a miniature landscape, a protected clearing in a forest which opens up to the surrounding context with time.
2. The pupa gulta can change with the age of the child and be adapted to other uses, first a cot and a play pen, then a small bed, later a lounge chair or a seat or even a table.
3. The pupa gulta is predominantly made of birch. The birch tree is the symbolic tree of birth, a symbol of purification and a preparation for new beginnings. Birch are the first trees to be planted when making a new forest, they grow in barren soil and help to change soil conditions to enable other plants to grow.
